Cleveland Community College Receives $1,000 Scholarship from AT&T for Technical Education

Shelby, NC – Opportunities for technical education in Cleveland County received a boost recently, thanks to $1,000 in scholarship funds from AT&T.

State Rep. Tim Moore (R-Kings Mountain) joined Carlos E. Sanchez, AT&T State Director of External Affairs, in presenting the contribution to U. L. “Rusty” Patterson, Executive Director, CCC Foundation.

The scholarship will be available for CCC students studying in a technical field, with preference given to a U.S. military veteran.

“I’m excited about this scholarship, for it speaks to the importance of technology in today’s economy, while also recognizing the personal sacrifice of our veterans,” Rep. Moore said. “We owe these men and women a tremendous debt of gratitude for their service and I am pleased that the community is supporting them as they seek to expand their education.”

“AT&T plays a vital role in the education and development of our future leaders through their generous scholarship contribution. Education and training of our workforce is a collaboration of public, private and individuals who share a common vision to educate and prepare our leaders of the future, and we are delighted to have AT&T as one of our partners that recognize this need.” Roger Holland, Chairman, CCCF

Sanchez said AT&T has a long history of supporting education, as well as supporting veterans and their families.

“We believe there is no better way to make a lasting difference in a community than by supporting education,” he said. “A student’s academic success opens future economic opportunities which impact the student’s life as well as the lives of his or her family members. We appreciate the opportunity to support Cleveland Community College and to support our veterans.”
