(Shelby, NC) – Cleveland Community College held its 2014 Spring Firefighter Academy graduation ceremony on Friday, March 7, 2014, in the LeGrand Center on the CCC campus. Fifteen students, who were part of Class 10, were recognized during the ceremony.
Brown Emergency Training Center Coordinator Jimmy Hensley welcomed family and friends and thanked them for their support during the nine-week Academy. Shelby Fire and Rescue Chief William Hunt served as the keynote speaker and Academy staff presented graduates with their certificates and pins.
The Firefighter Academy is an intense training program that requires over 400 hours of instruction in areas that allows students to become certified as Firefighter I and II in hazardous materials. Instruction also covers rapid intervention team training, live fire scenarios, and physical training.
The next Firefighter Academy will be held this summer, June 15 – August 15, 2014, at the Brown Emergency Training Center on the campus of Cleveland Community College. For more information call 704-669-4193.
