(Shelby, NC) – Andrew Young,a student in the Electronics Engineering Technology and Electrical/Electronics Technology programs at CCC, has been awarded a North Carolina Space grant to help further his education in the field of science, technology, engineering, and math. Young attributes much of his success at CCC to faculty members Alan Qualls and Jennifer Petty. “Both Alan and Jennifer have been instrumental in my success,” Young says. “Alan helped me apply for the grant and both of them sent in recommendations on my behalf.”
The North Carolina Space Grant will cover tuition costs for Young’s fall semester at CCC and is awarded to outstanding students in the STEM field and who are interested in pursuing a career that supports NASA’s mission including careers in the aerospace sector. Young was awarded this competitive scholarship based on his academic merit and dedication to the field.
Young says he has thoroughly enjoyed learning and understanding energy in the electrical field and is looking forward to pursuing a career in the field. The North Carolina Space Grant is a competitive scholarship program that is based on academic merit and is funded by NASA and the State of North Carolina.
