Cleveland Community College Announces New and Promoted Faculty and Staff

Ben Anderson has joined CCC as Economics Instructor. Anderson is a native of Reidsville, North Carolina, and earned a Master of Science degree in Applied and Resource Economics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from East Carolina University. He was previously employed at Miller-Motte College as a Math Instructor and enjoys playing golf, snowboarding and college athletics. Anderson currently resides in Shelby.

Lance Ashley has been promoted to Accountant/Accounts Payable in the Business Department. Ashley is a native of Boiling Springs and a graduate of Crest High School. He was recently serving in the position of Auxiliary Services Associate at CCC. Prior to employment at the College, he was the PGA Professional at River Bend Golf Club. Ashley earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Gardner-Webb University. He and his daughter, Ashley, live in Shelby.

Kristin Blanton is serving the College in the role of Accounting Instructor. Blanton recently served as EAGLE Project Coordinator and Accountant for the College. She is a native of Cleveland County and graduate of Crest High School. She holds a Master of Accounting degree and Bachelor of Arts degree from Gardner-Webb University. Mrs. Blanton and her husband, Brinson, reside in Shelby.

Brittany Bowman has joined the College as Secretary, Continuing Education Department. Bowman is a native of Cherryville and a 2007 graduate of Highland School of Technology. She earned an Associate in Arts degree in Medical Office Administration from CCC in May, 2012. Bowman is the daughter of Roddy and Susan Bowman of Cherryville.

Alisa Goad has joined CCC as a Mathematics Instructor. Goad is a native of Cleveland County and earned a Master of Arts degree and Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics/Secondary Education from Appalachian State University. Goad taught mathematics at Burns High School for 26 years and also served as department chairperson and Professional Learning Community Leader during her tenure at Burns. During her career, Goad earned National Board Certification in Adolescence and Young Adulthood Mathematics and was listed on the National Honor Roll for Outstanding American Teachers in 2005/2006. She is also a previous recipient of the STAR Outstanding Teacher Award. She is an active member of the Shelby and Gaston Shaggers and Polkville Baptist Church. Goad and her husband, Larry, reside in Polkville.

Alan Horldt has joined CCC as Learning Center Specialist. Horldt is a native of Fallston and a graduate of Burns High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems from East Carolina University. For two years, Horldt served as a Lab Assistant in the Rose Library at CCC while also working as an Intermediate Technical Analyst for Carolina’s Medical Center. Hordlt and his wife, Dori, have two children and reside in Boiling Springs.

LeeAnn Lawson has been promoted to Student Development Coordinator in the department of Student Services. Mrs. Lawson is a native of Cleveland County and a graduate of Burns High School. Since 2006, she has served in several capacities at CCC including Student Activities Advisor, Career Education Counselor, and Allied Health Admissions Counselor. Lawson earned her Master of Arts degree in Higher Education from Appalachian State University and holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In 2009, she was awarded the CCC Foundation Outstanding Staff Member Award. She and her husband, Travis, live in Polkville.

Kay McWhirter is now serving the College as Education Instructor. McWhirter is a native of Shelby and earned Master of Arts degree from Gardner-Webb University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Limestone College. McWhirter is rejoining the Education department after serving as an instructor with the SmartStart program. She and her husband, Colin, have four children and live in Boiling Springs.

Leslie Noggle has joined CCC as Computer Information Technology Instructor. She is a graduate of Shelby High School and earned a Master’s degree in Educational Media-Instructional Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Appalachian State University. Noggle just recently finished coursework for EdD in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb University and is currently working on completing her dissertation. She has served at CCC as an Adjunct Instructor in Computer Information Technology from 2010-2012. She was previously employed as the Instructional Technology Facilitator for Gaston County Schools and spent three years teaching at Tryon Elementary in Gaston County. During her time at GCS, she served as Pinnacle Technology Leader teaching others about integrating technology into the classroom. Noggle is the daughter of Larry and Diann Noggle and currently resides in Gastonia.

Rodger Perry has joined Cleveland Community College as Audio Visual Coordinator. Perry is a native of Herndon, Virginia and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Kinetic Imagery, from Virginia Commonwealth University. Perry previously worked as Audio Visual Specialist for Northern Virginia Community College, Loudoun County, Campus from 2007 – 2012. He enjoys creating music, art, animation, film and illustrations and is a patron sponsor of the Lake Eden Arts Festival in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Perry resides in Gastonia.

Alan Qualls has joined CCC as Discipline Coordinator Electrical/Electronics Technology. Qualls is a native of Cleveland County and has worked as an electrical contractor for many years in Cleveland and surrounding counties. He earned an Associate in Applies Science degree in Electrical/Electronics Technology from CCC. He and his wife, Allison, and their children currently reside in Shelby.

Adam Sweezy has joined the College as AV/IT Specialist for the both CCC and the LeGrand Center. Sweezy is a native of Cleveland County and a graduate of Burns High School and Cleveland Community College. At CCC, Sweezy earned an Associate in Applied Science degree in Information System Security and Networking Technology. He was previously employed as a Network Technician at Pathways. He and his wife, Amanda, live in Cherryville.
