The State Employees’ Credit Union recently announced the recipients of the SECU Foundation two-year, “People Helping People,” scholarships for Cleveland Community College. This year’s recipients are Makayla Lynn Page and Drew Bryan Denton.
Page is the daughter of Doug and Deborah Page of Shelby and a 2012 graduate of Burns High School. She plans to pursue an Associate Degree in Nursing at Cleveland Community College.
Denton is the son of Dale and Valerie Denton of Gastonia. He is a 2012 graduate of Mighty Warriors Christian Homeschool and is currently pursuing an Associate in Arts degree.
Recipients of the $5,000 scholarship are selected by the SECU scholarship committee and exemplify the membership philosophy of credit unions, and have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement. The State Employees’ Credit Union distributes “People Helping People” scholarships to all of the 58 community colleges in the state of North Carolina.
